Rachel Song is a passionate student exploring how engineering, business, and social systems can drive equity-centered change. At UMass Lowell’s Francis College of Engineering, I have developed embedded systems for real-world environmental challenges and now support daily technical, management, and outreach operations as the only returning RAMP intern. My work blends technical design with human insight, rooted in faith, service, and community leadership.

  • RAMP Intern – UMass Lowell | Summer 2025

    • Sole intern selected to continue in 2025 after student research role
    • Supported programming across technical setup, student onboarding, and mentorship
    • Advanced the mission of EHAWKS by working closely with Prof. Often to guide students in creating detailed plans for bringing EHAWKS initiatives back to their high schools
    • Documented the program daily through reports and professional photography
    • Contributed to daily operations, publicity, and long-term planning
  • Student Researcher – RAMP Program – UMass Lowell | Summer 2024

    • Designed and tested PM2.5 air quality sensor using Adafruit microcontroller with like minded peers – Built Python-based data pipeline with real-time dashboard and EPA benchmarking
    • Co-founded EHAWKS (Engineering for Human Advancement, Well-being, and Knowledge for Success) to expand the program’s reach into high schools
    • Gained insight into the engineering field through research, networking, and collaboration, including five weeks working with Azenta Life Sciences.
